Anyone of any age can call our after hours Nurse Practitioner. Call if:

  • you are feeling unwell and are unsure if you need medical assistance;
  • someone you care for is feeling unwell;
  • you’re working or living away from home and are not feeling well;
  • you need non-emergency health advice after hours.

What Our Nurse Practitioners Do:

  • diagnose and treat health conditions
  • medical certificates
  • order and interpret blood and radiology tests
  • prescribe medications
  • initiate and receive referrals from health professionals
  • holistic health care support

What is the after-hours service?

If you have a medical issue and the general practice is closed, you can call our after-hours service for over the phone medical advice with our Nurse Practitioners. This is not a standard on-call service. Our Nurse Practitioners have the knowledge of the local area and can refer you to local services or provide a prescription you can collect from your local pharmacy.

What does the after-hours service offer?

Our after-hours service is a fee free consultation with a highly qualified nurse practitioner who can:
•Diagnose and treat health conditions
•Order and interpret blood and radiology tests
•Prescribe medications
•Provide holistic health care support.

Who can use the service?

Anyone of any age can call our after-hours service to discuss range of health care needs. Our nurse practitioners are experts in diagnosing and treating rashes, fevers, UTI’s, infections, toothache and many more. If you are unsure or cannot visit the medical centre, service for expert advice.

    What is a Nurse Practitioner?

    Nurse Practitioners have advanced qualifications and improve access to efficient health care within rural communities. Our after-hours nurse practitioners will complement our existing services, enhancing the primary health care provided by Corowa and Rutherglen Medical Practice.

    What to expect from our Nurse Practitioner?

    When you call via telephone or telehealth, it will be like a normal consultation. They will ask you to confirm your identity and then the consultation will start. The nurse practitioner will organise anything that you need as part of your diagnosis such as a referral for x-ray and
    blood test, prescribe medication for acute problems provide education counselling and wellness support.
