Knowing who is looking after you and your health is important; almost as important as your health itself. So, we asked your team at Corowa Medical Centre a few questions to help you get to know them.

Practice Principals

Dr. Michael Love

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor?

I enjoy helping my patients, whether it be through the good times or the bad times. I think a general practitioner can really make a difference. I also enjoy keeping up with the ever-changing evolution of medical practice including new investigations and management. Being a Doctor at a regional centre means that there is a variety of work across both the medical centre and the hospital. Our staff are great and we have a great comradery.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I have trained as a GP obstetrician and enjoy supporting women through their pregnancy. I also have a particular interest in skin diseases.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 1992. Prior to this, I worked at St Vincents Hospital (Melbourne), Royal Children’s Hospital (Melbourne), Mercy Maternity and in Cheltenham  (UK).

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from Melbourne University last century, in 1985. My qualifications include MBBS, FRACGP, FACRRM.

Tell us something else about yourself.

I am not the best of golfers but I really enjoy trying. One day I will have a good score!! I also enjoy giving Collingwood supporters a hard time.

Dr. Antoinette Del Popolo

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor at Corowa Medical Centre?

I enjoy working in a regional town where I am able to provide full care to my patients. I love the interaction with my patients and the challenge of diagnosing and then managing health problems. We have great staff here and I really enjoy working with them.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I am a qualified GP obstetrician and have a particular interest in women’s health. I am also interested in nutritional medicine and feel strongly that good nutrition is one of the most important factors in good health.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 1997. Prior to this, I worked at St Vincents Hospital (Sydney), Orange Base Hospital and Wagga Base Hospital.

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from Sydney University in 1992. My qualifications include MBBS, FRACGP, DRANZ COG

Tell us something else about yourself.

I love spending time with my teenage kids and my good friends. I love yoga, reading, and gardening. And I love the Sydney Swans!

Dr. Ayon Guha

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor at Corowa Medical Centre?

I enjoy being able to get to know my patients as people. This allows me to help them more holistically. As rural general practitioners, we deal with complex medical problems and I enjoy this challenge. We have an amazing team here at Corowa Medical Centre and the clinical expertise and knowledge is really something to be proud of.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I have an interest in cardiology, skin cancer and complex medical problems. Continuing to learn and update my knowledge is really important to me.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 2014. Prior to this I worked at Royal Perth Hospital and Sir Charles Gardner Hospital (Perth).

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2011. My qualifications include MBBS, FRACGP, Bachelor of Engineering, Masters of Science (Physics).

Associates

Dr. Heinz Deiter

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor at the Corowa Medical Centre?

I enjoy working with people, being able to support them as best I can, knowing that my efforts are valued. I also enjoy the new challenges that happen every day. Being a Doctor at Corowa Medical Centre means I get to work with great staff in a fantastic facility.

Do you have any special qualifications or areas of interest?

I have been providing anaesthetics for almost 30 years, and have a special interest in cardiology.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 1993. Prior to this, I worked at various hospitals in Newcastle. From 2006 to 2008, I worked at Alice Springs Remote Communities and Alice Springs Hospital.

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from Newcastle University in 1989. My qualifications include BMeD, FRACGP, FACRRM.

Tell us something else about yourself.

I have a partner, two adult children and an adopted ten-year old daughter from China. I like traveling and going for challenging walks. Lately, I have dabbled in yoga and rowing ( in the over 60 “awesome foursome”).

DR. NIGEL MURRAY

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor?

I enjoy being able to offer a continuity of care to my patients and the endless variety that being a rural GP offers. I also enjoy living and working in a rural area.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I am a GP Anaesthetist. I have a strong interest in emergency medicine and the medical sciences.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 2012. Prior to this, I worked at Yarrawonga, Lismore, Geraldton, and Wonthaggi.

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from Monash University in 1997. My qualifications include MBBS, FRACGP, FARGP, JCCA.

Dr. Wen Guha

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor at Corowa Medical Centre?

I enjoy helping people and the challenge of being a Doctor. I came to Corowa to complete my GP training and was impressed by the experience and expertise of the doctors who work here. This means as a team we can manage most things that come through the door.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I am a GP Anaesthetist and am committed to advancing my skills and knowledge to help me to practice in a rural area.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 2015. Prior to this I worked at hospitals in Perth, WA. I did one year GP anaesthetic training in Shepparton, VIC from 2016 to 2017.

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from Sum Yat Sem University, China in 2002. My qualifications include MBBS, FRACGP, JCCA.

Dr. Han Chua

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor at Corowa Medical Centre?

I have a desire to help people and get great satisfaction seeing patients get better. I am really proud when patients respect my expertise, listen and follow my advice. Everyone in Corowa and the team at the medical centre are friendly and supportive with a great community spirit.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I have an interest in geriatrics, which is becoming a more needed service as Australia has an aging population.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 2017. Prior to this, I worked at Albury Base Hospital and St George Hospital (Sydney).

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from University of Queensland. My qualifications include MBBS and FRACGP.

Registrars

All of our Registrars are mentored to ensure a very high standard of medical care. We pride ourselves on our Registrars and our ongoing contribution to the training of the future.

Dr. Sally Smith

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor at Corowa Medical Centre?

I enjoy the variety of work in rural general practice in Corowa, seeing patients of all ages across the community and hospital settings, and contributing to the health of the community in which I live.

Women’s Health, Paediatrics, Sexual Health, Rural Health

When did you join the practice?

2016, after being an Extended Rural Cohort Medical Student at the practice in 2011-2012.

Dr. Aung Htun

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor at Corowa Medical Centre?

I enjoy getting to know people at their appointments and keeping them healthy. I have felt very welcomed in Corowa as people are really nice. Corowa Medical Centre is a supportive environment for registrars and the team here are lovely.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I have an interest in chronic diseases, acute medicine and paediatrics.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 2018. Prior to this, I worked at Latrobe Hospital, Echuca Regional Health and St Anns Bay Hospital (Jamaica).

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from medical school in Myanmar (Burma) in 2008. My qualifications include MBBS.

I enjoy watching the news and cycling.

Dr. Ei Oo

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor at Corowa Medical Centre?

I enjoy being able to help people as it’s very rewarding. The satisfaction and the happiness we get from helping a sick patient is beyond words. I really enjoy working in such a supportive environment, as it offers a great opportunity to learn from the experienced senior GPs in our practice.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I have an interest in women’s health and child health.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 2019. Prior to this I worked at Echuca Hospital, Bendigo Hospital, Latrobe Regional Hospital, and Leeton Medical Practice.

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from the University of Medicine in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma). My qualifications include MBBS.

My husband is also a GP who is working at Corowa Medical Centre. He highly recommends it.

Dr. Htike Aung

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor at the Corowa Medical Centre?

I enjoy being able to help people when they are unwell. Being able to use my medical knowledge to help people improve their health is really rewarding. I really enjoy working with such friendly colleagues in a supportive environment.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I have an interest in extending my skill in the skin cancer area. Most skin cancers, if they are detected and treated early, are curable.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 2019. Prior to this, I worked at Latrobe Regional Hospital and Sir Charles Gardner Hospital.

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from the University of Medicine in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma) in 2009. My qualifications include MBBS.

Tell us something else about yourself.

I like to do yoga and listen to music.

Dr. Mira Kapur

Dr Kapur is committed to Teaching the next generation of Doctors as a GP supervisor and is working with our Registrars in a mentoring role.

What do you enjoy most about being a Doctor?

I enjoy the variety of people we see and helping them to overcome illness. I also enjoy learning and teaching medical students and GP Registrars. Being a Doctor in a regional area means I get to live in a great community, and enjoy the countryside and proximity to water, mountains and larger towns.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I’m interested in and work in Refugee Health and am a Coordinator for Medical Students in NSW.

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 2005. Prior to this I worked at Broadmeadows Community Health (Melbourne) and Ivanhoe Medical Centre (Melbourne).

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from London University and Charing Cross Hospital (UK), in 1984. My qualifications include MRCR, MRCS (UK).

Others


Our friendly office team – Jeanette, Leanne, Julie, Margaret, Tracey, Heather, Monique, Kerry, and Sue all provide excellent support to patients and doctors to help keep the practice running smoothly and efficiently.

Corowa Medical Centre is well supported by our Nurses Gill, Mary, Wendy, Stacey, Nicki, Karen and Molly. They assist our Doctors with minor procedures, wound care, spirometry’s, sutures etc. Our RN’s are responsible for the Trianging of urgent appointments and the delivery of results to patients on behalf of the doctors.

Kristen Mann
What do you enjoy most about being the Practice Manager?

I enjoy working in an environment that is supportive. We have a great team of Doctors, Nurses and Administration staff. I really enjoy living in Corowa as it has the best of both worlds – small town support and people, yet close to the cities.

Do you have any specialist qualifications or areas of interest?

I am currently completing a Masters of Business Administration through the Australia Institute of Business

When did you join the practice?

I joined the Corowa Medical Centre in 2017.

What are your qualifications?

I graduated Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga) in 2007. My qualifications include a Bachelor of Nursing and Graduate Diploma of Business Administration.
